My father taught his congregations the love of God and how there is no greater sacrifice for a father to give than His Son to the world to die for our sins. This is the hymn, Faith of Our Fathers, paraphrased in honor of my father, Rev. Harold R. Stoudt. Because of his tremendous ability to make the most difficult passages of the Bible understandable to a small child, I am a Child of God, who has tried to follow the Way, the Light, and the Truth my entire life. Thanks, dad, for loving me and helping me to follow the right path.
Our fathers’ faith is still strong, no matter what prison time, or burning fires, or lifting of the sword.
Our hearts stir with joy and celebration, as we hear the Word.
Our fathers’ holy faith causes us to honor them until our deaths.
Despite torture and pain while in dimly lit prisons, our martyrs remained fully conscience free.
If they had to die for their children , they would bless them with Christ’s love and promises.
Our fathers’ holy faith causes us to honor them until our deaths.
In our struggles, we will love both friend and foe because they were faithful to God.
With loving knowledge of Christ’s sacrifices, we will proclaim the Word by sharing it and by living faithfully.
Our fathers’ holy faith causes us to honor them until our deaths.
