God said, “My people are struggling with wars. Who do I send?”
The young man said, “Send me, Lord. I will do your bidding.”
So he packed his belongings and his gun to journey to that far land.
What he saw hurt his heart and soul but he continued on.
He could not understand why people do not get along.
Why did they stop speaking to one another?
Why did they kill one another?
He prayed, “O Lord, forgive them for they know not what they do.”
When his time came to lay down his life, God carried him home.
Cradling the boy’s body in His arms, He said, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”
“You carried my light into battle and gave my Word honor.”
“Go now, my son, and walk in the gardens I have prepared for you. There you will find eternal life.”
“No greater love can be shown to the world than to give up your life for another.”
To all who gave some and all who gave their all, we pray that Americans will honor your sacrifices.
