When the crowds could not find Jesus and his disciples, they took their boats across the sea to the town of Capernaum. When they found Jesus, they asked why He came to Capernaum. He said, “You are looking for me because you ate a meal I provided for you. Do not work for food that perishes but for food that endures for eternal life. God has set His seal on the Son of Man.”
The crowd asked what they could do to perform works of God. Jesus replied, “The work of God is your job, to believe in the Son of God.” The crowd asked what signs Jesus would do to show them that they could believe in Him. They believed that there ancestors were fed by Moses as they walked in the wilderness. Jesus said, “Moses did not give you bread from heaven. My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. The bread of God comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” The crowd shouted, “Give us this bread forever.”
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
