We lit the fourth Advent candle today in church.  We’ve been watching for the Messiah with the lighting of every candle, in the hopes that the darkness surrounding the world will be destroyed and the light of Christ’s love will show through everyone.  God, who always fulfills His promises, will bring us salvation.  He will feed us like a shepherd and gently lead us home.  Make straight the highway and make a joyful noise to the Lord our God.  Send your light into the world, for Jesus Christ is coming!

Throughout this Christmas season, I have opened my heart to a tiny child, who blessed me with His gift of love and grace.  There is creative power in the hope He brings to the world, and He teaches us that peace will come from justice.  He fills us with over-flowing joy that we must share with others.  The awesome love within us helps us to prepare our hearts for the birth of Jesus Christ and to walk in His light.  Emmanuel, God is with us!
