Today is Palm Sunday. The sun shines brightly, and there are puffy, white clouds in the sky. There are children playing in their yards, and mothers are planting beautiful flowers. Some fathers have gone fishing on a nearby lake, while others are mowing their lawns. Families have attended services this morning and shared communion with other church members. It is truly a glorious day! I am describing normal Palm Sundays in the past, but this is not a normal Palm…..
There’s a time for everything in our lives, and many of us have taken that time for-granted, as though tomorrow will never come. Tomorrow has come, and it’s name is COVID-19. Others deny the scientific and medical facts about this devastating disease and practically dare that pandemic to infect them. Still others aren’t healthy enough to fight a germ they cannot see and are waiting to simply die, get this life over with. The fourth group are our heroes, the…..
In Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, we learn there is a season to everything and a time for every purpose under heaven. There’s a time to be born, a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to harvest; a time to kill, a time to heal; a time to break down, a time to build up; a time to weep, a time to laugh; a time to mourn, a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, a time…..
As of the past Friday, I have realized that life as we know it in America has changed, and change always brings discomfort and some good things. I live in Wisconsin, and we now have 34 people sick with the COVID-19 virus. The public and private schools in the state must all close by this Wednesday. There was a run on the grocery store in our town for the following items: hand sanitizer, toilet paper, paper towels, bags of potatoes,…..
In researching the COVID-19 virus that is currently ravaging the world, I am reminded of Psalm 40. My thoughts have turned to God, not to so many fears about what could happen in this medical crisis. My Faith in the Cross I wait patiently for the Lord to hear my concerns. He will pull me up from destruction, out of my worries, and onto solid ground. I will sing a song of new praise to God, the Almighty King. My…..
As I watch the news reports about the coronavirus, are we ready for an epidemic of these proportions? Are we, as a nation of prosperity, prepared to lose many of the things each of us has worked so hard for? Why did the program that would help us face such an outbreak get cut completely from our federal budget several years ago? Change is never easy, and many of us can’t fathom a world that would be vastly different from…..
The gospel of Paul is reflected in the book of Ephesians, chapters one and two. Paul speaks of the grace and peace that come from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. He reminds me of who I am and whom I belong to. I Am I am blessed; I am chosen. I am beloved; I am redeemed. I am forgiven by Christ’s death on the cross. I am sealed with the Holy Spirit. I have wisdom and revelation…..
Where is America being led and who is doing the leading? Are you concerned about whether either party, Republican or Democrat, is headed in the Right direction; ever wonder if an independent party would run the country in a more positive way? I just re-watched an older movie entitled, “The Postman,” and suddenly, I realized America is not much better off than the story line for this movie that took place in 2013. In the movie, our country had suffered…..
A Call for Peace Give us the wisdom to know who are false prophets. Help us to hold in high esteem those who are helping humanity. Guide us in replacing wars with peace, hatred with love. Help kingdoms to conquer social problems, not each other. Give our families the courage to face their problems and faith to change unjust government policies. Protect us from those who would betray us and those who do not know You. Guide us to withstand…..
Walk in the Light Let us walk in the light of Jesus’ presence. May we be bathed in the light of His glory in our last days. Being lost in the dark, may we find our way with Christ. May we be Christ’s light in a world that needs His grace and love. We follow the Star, Lord, so that Christ may live in our hearts. Through Him, our lights will illuminate the way for others. May the Prince of…..
