Today, I would like to pose questions to God. In these difficult times of COVID, mental illness, isolationism, racism, hatred, police brutality, violence, sexism, wars, religious tensions, and economic upheaval, why, when You talk to us, do all our previous thoughts go out the window in fuzziness? Everyone has their own journey, but there is only one path, God’s path. Man can build tall sky scrapers on almost no foundation, but only with Your hope and encouragement can we know…..
Never let it be said that our young people do not understand America’s problems, do not feel the consequences of division in America’s adult population, and are not concerned about their futures and those of every other creature on this planet. Today, I followed a speech made by a young lady of the third generation of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s family, Ms. Yolanda Renee King, on January 17, 2022. Though her words were her own, the power of those words…..
You may be willing to give up on your heavenly Father, but He will never give up on you or being your “Abba,” Father. You may feel that you are not worthy of being His child, but He loves you so much that He willingly gave His Son to die for your sins so that you can have Eternal life. You may feel lost, but He keeps searching for you until He finds you to make you His child. You…..
It amazes me that the same forces that influence men and women in wars also have influenced Americans’ response to the COVID pandemic. With Omacron COVID, we are starting to see a possible light at the end of the tunnel from its death-like grip on our bodies but also that COVID may stay around in some form or other for years to come. There are contrasting responses between the forces that support life and those that support death in this…..
I continue to be inspired by the messages of Max Lucado as we continue to battle COVID. The numbers of sick have become astronomical, and I have not been able to attend church. Pastor Lucado’s thought-provoking, Bible-based, sermons have kept my faith strong and my soul thirsting for spiritual truths. As a former “preacher’s kid,” I see a lot of my father’s ability to make the Bible come alive in Pastor Lucado’s preaching style. This past Sunday, Max said that…..
The Biblical story talks about a young man who had everything, a good name, power, wealth, good health, and education, but his brothers sold him down into slavery in Egypt. He had lost everything except for one thing; he had God’s dream for him locked away in his soul. That dream was his life raft in a steady stream of struggles and pain. Like this young man called Joseph, we should never lose sight of God’s call on our hearts……
My Lord has cared for me these past two years even in the midst of the world’s most devastating pandemic, making sure that I didn’t stray too far from His fold. He has cared for my needs and inspired me to move forward into a positive future, even as so many have fallen ill to the disease or met an untimely death. He walked beside me as I searched for green fields to lay my body down in and brought…..
I keep wondering if we are at war with ourselves or at war with the world. 2021 showed us that anger in the storming of our nation’s capitol, divisions over COVID conditions and preventative measures, mental health issues surfacing after so much isolation of people, civil rights protests and violence, and our own individual struggles with who we are. I hope and pray that the world will survive all of these wars and that the world’s populations will turn back…..
We all have images of Christmas that we think describe what Christmas is. Some say they like making vows to lose weight after the holidays, which they quickly break after a month or so. Others see trees beautifully decorated, Santa Claus coming down the chimney leaving gifts under those trees, caroling around the neighborhoods, family gatherings and telling old stories about members of those families, building snowmen and snow ball fights, and Creches depicting Mary and Joseph smiling at Jesus…..
God sees our homes as holy and sacred. The people of those homes may be different but the importance of home is not. In the Garden of Eden, Adam was given the job of naming all of the animals, birds, and insects, but he asked God for mate for himself. God created the perfect mate and companion for Adam by taking one of Adam’s ribs to make Eve. Thew family was God’s idea from the very beginning in that a…..
