Psalm 118: 22 (KJV) states: “The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone for the corner.” Reading from my book, “Daily Wisdom for Women,” a thought struck me about cornerstones in our lives. When a building is being demolished, the structure is completely taken down, and the ground is prepared for construction of a new building. One of the first things done in the new construction is the placement of a cornerstone, from whence the building spreads…..
I have been thinking about retiring from teaching after fifty years, and I must admit the prospect of not teaching music really leaves a huge bare spot in my life. Just like the following verses of Matthew 13: 31-33 (KJV), my musical talent grew from the age of three until today sixty-eight years later into an all encompassing passion of mine, so much so that I have shared it with countless students, musical school groups, and many churches in Delaware,…..
Why are certain elements of the American population trying to stop our children from knowing about the Halocaust. about slavery, and about 9/11? Are we trying to protect them or are we trying to keep them from knowing the truth about what really happened during our history? It seems to me that too many people don’t want to know the truth, and therefore, our children need to be protected. Our children will not understand these atrocities and historical events unless…..
“Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer, the Lord of Hosts; I am the first and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them. Fear yea not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that…..
God’s Word God’s Word comes to us through the rain. He refreshes our land through the snow that falls in the winter. Good seeds grow from the softened soil. His hand ripens the trees to bring forth rich fruit. Praise God for His precious Word. Thank the Gardener for His tender toil. Bless the Great Farmer for abundant fields. Give thanks for the grace He bestows on our barren souls. God’s Word is scattered like the grains of the fields……
I took my first walk outdoors after church today. It was the first time I have had to walk since the Canadian wild fires broke out of control and covered our nation with non-breathable air. As I walked through the neighborhood, I heard the words of, “O Beautiful for Spacious Skies,” in mind’s heart. Many Americans have never been out of this country, but I have, and let me tell you, we are such a beautiful country when we don’t…..
We are thankful today for God opening up the skies with plentiful rain to nourish our dry land. He lights up the skies with pulsing lightning, and His angels pound His tympani with loud thunders. What, when, and where God ordains, His will is indeed good. I paraphrase the hymn, “What God Ordains,” written by Samuel Rodigast (1649-1708). Ordained in Light and Love God provides well for all life. His will fills my heart with confidence. My faithful God knows…..
Today is Father’s Day, and I would like to pay tribute to my Heavenly Father. He has walked beside me since my birth, held my hand through difficult times, helped me make decisions, healed me of health issues, and given me everything I have needed and wanted. Without Him, there is no Deborah Ann, no teacher, no poet, no author, no composer. God Created Our World God created our world, and my ears hear nature singing the music of the…..
When you step on a scale to weigh yourself, look in a mirror, or get caught by the radar gun as you drive, you see the flaws in your physical being or in your behaviors. Some of us deny what we see, but we are all flawed. No one escapes this fact about ourselves; there are no excuses. In order for God to use us, He needs to shape us, as He did Jacob. Our spiritual paths are crooked, and…..
Our lives are like a boat that needs a strong rudder to guide us through the course shoals and obstacles of life. We go from one point to another until we get our direction from the north star. Lives change when obstacles become more than we can handle, but then, without us even noticing, God sends the gift that we have been waiting for, that one person who makes us smile, who warms the room when he enters, who cradles…..
