As we enter another week in mid-August, it is important to remember that we must be imitators of God, His beloved children, and to live in love as Christ loved us. It occurred to me that Americans have strayed so much from God that we are accepting what is wrong as the norm and not what is right. That means one thing: we need our hearts healed by God. The following things are what we should be doing to correct the wrongs so prevalent in our society.
We need to stop the lies and to speak only truths to our neighbors, because we are a part of each other. We can be angry but not be sinners. When the sun sets, our anger must be over, and we must not allow the devil into our thoughts, words, and deeds. Stealing must not be a part of anyone’s life. All must do an honest day’s work that can benefit the needy. Vitriol should not come from our mouths but only words of grace that help build up others. We do not need to grieve the Holy Spirit of God, because we were marked by this spirit at our birth. Bitterness, wrath, anger, wrangling, slander, and malice should be stopped at all times so that we can be kind to one another, be tenderhearted to those in need, and be forgiving as Christ has forgiven us. In our society, we have forgotten what it is to be children of God. This one fact is the crux of our American problems.
In our Constitution, we are allowed to believe in God or not to believe, but that right does not mean we cannot love one another, regardless of our religious beliefs. The rights of all Americans matter, not just the rights of those who want to destroy everything we stand for. Our government officials need to remember that it is easier to forgive and love than to be controlled by the darkness of the devil. So I ask you to remember who you should invite into your hearts…Jesus Christ. Only He can move us forward to a brighter future. If you do not believe, please know that there is spiritual power greater than all things in our universe who gave us a world to care for and to love, not to destroy. That power will heal our hearts.
