What do you see when you look at the beautiful night sky…the stars, the moon in different shapes, the vast darkness? Although the vastness of the dark sky and the different shapes of the moon pique my interest, the most beautiful things I see are the stars…so many, so far away, and yet, still shining for all of us. We paint with brushes; God paints with all of the stars of the universe. Just as He knows everyone of those bright lights in the sky, He calls them by their individual names. So too, He knows everyone of the tiny hairs on my head; He calls me by my name.
We are all made in God’s image and that should never be changed by man. I have seen shooting stars, and have asked, “Where do they come from?” They were made by God in His heavenly laboratory. Even in the darkest of nights, the shooting star can bring you light to find your way. “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8: 12- KJV) There are many types of shooting stars: love, faith, hope, charity, compassion, and forgiveness. For anyone who has ever argued with someone or fought with them and has not been able to forgive them, the shooting star of forgiveness is for you.
As a nation, we need shooting stars and many more. We may never be able to forget the attack on our nation’s capital by extremist American groups, but we must forgive them to move forward. The media must see that there job is to present the news, but they must also begin to help Americans to forgive by not continuing to pursue these extremists groups. They are only compounding an already negative, angry, and hateful group of people who think that the gun is the only way to better things.
Why does God continue to create more stars even after so many of them have colored our skies for millions of years? His paint brush is never still; His love will never die for us. He will continue to know us by the tiniest hairs on our heads, and He will continue to light our way with truth, justice, and liberty for all of His children, no matter their race, color, creed, ethnicity, gender, or religion. Our heavenly Father will never stop loving us; that’s why I continue to be grateful for His beautiful, shining nights of stars. And an even more wonderful thing is that He knows my name: Anna.
