Like a watchmaker, God deals with the inner workings of our lives, our inner clocks. He fixes what He finds according to His own time line. My blog today speaks to some ideas we all need to evaluate through questions; the answers to these questions and many more are yours alone.
- Do you take the time to help those who are homeless, those who are drifting through their lives for a wide variety of reasons, and those who are seriously ill?
- Do you judge “the rich” for what you think they should be doing with their wealth?
- If your past life was revealed to you and you realized God was watching your actions, would you react to situations in the same way today?
- If you knew a struggling pregnant teenager who had been rejected by her parents because of their religious beliefs and social status in the community, would you intercede to offer your home or find a shelter for her?
- If you knew someone whose wife was dying from cancer and who had become an alcoholic to cope, what suggestions would you offer to help them move forward in faith?
- If you had a grandson or granddaughter who just returned from their fifth deployment to Afghanistan and they were struggling with their PTSD issues, how would you counsel and comfort them in their pain?
- If you know a teenager who has struggled with depression and has attempted suicide during the COVID pandemic, why are you not getting involved with their journey to a better mental health?
- If you were driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and you hit a pedestrian with your car, would you stop to offer help or would you drive away as though nothing had happened?
- If a special person in your life was facing imminent death, are you able to talk about life after death with them?
- Are you able to take a stand for the continuation of democracy in our country while others are trying to tear down everything about our country to get their own agenda through Congress?
- If you see a person of color being hurt by an angry mob, how do you get involved in helping that person?
- If you see a child who has been abused by their parents or other people, what do you do to help the child see love in a darkened world?
In all of these questions and countless others about our lives, God directs our journeys and offers a love far surpassing any other creature on the earth. If we open our hearts to Him, He will fix what we are unable to do. Through His love, we can offer much needed help in all situations, even if it’s only to hold a hand or to listen graciously to someone else’s pain.
Don’t let your time here on earth, your purpose to better the world, get away from you. Time and purpose are precious gifts from God that allow us to be more caring and loving for our fellow men, women, and children. By seeking the Kingdom of God first, our wants, our needs, our very beings, will be granted all things and the very earth we inhabit will become what God wanted it to be, a loving, beautiful world.
