In researching the COVID-19 virus that is currently ravaging the world, I am reminded of Psalm 40. My thoughts have turned to God, not to so many fears about what could happen in this medical crisis.
My Faith in the Cross
I wait patiently for the Lord to hear my concerns.
He will pull me up from destruction, out of my worries, and onto solid ground.
I will sing a song of new praise to God, the Almighty King.
My friends have seen the crisis on the news and have put their trust in the Lord.
The Lord, my God, has multiplied wondrous deeds and thoughts for us.
Although I can’t possibly tell others all He has done, I will proclaim His love and grace.
He has listened to me, even though He does not delight in sacrifice and offerings.
He does not require burnt offering and sin offering.
I say, “I have come to do His will, and His law is written in my heart.”
Jesus Christ taught us to pray, “Your will be done.”
I pray that His will is done today in our lives as we prepare for the unknown.
Let us take up our own crosses and walk with Christ as He approaches the cross that saved us.
Help us, O Lord, to reach out with comfort and hope to those who are suffering with this dreadful disease.
May the world’s fears be placed at the foot of the cross, and may we all hear Your words of love.
