The world is a beautiful place, if only there weren’t so many problems. There still are good people around us, people whose love and forgiving grace is for all people, not just themselves. With health, political, economic, unstable relationships, and emotional issues and natural disasters, we yearn for Christ to shine in our hearts, to be the light we so desperately need to defeat the darkness that encroaches on our lives. We need the rain to quench out thirsts, but more sun and blue skies would help us to shine our own lights on this needy world.
We yearn for light as we wait in the darkness. We yearn for the truth amid the lies and corruptions of a greedy world. We yearn to be God’s children, even as we stumble from time to time with our own free will. Our troubled world yearns for peace and compassion in war-torn countries and drug-infested cities. Christ’s word alone can bring hope to those who despair. Saving us from ourselves, help us, Lord, to raise Your living voice among the voiceless.
Yearning for food, many still thirst for water. Make us be the bread that is broken for others and share us until all are fed. Help us to be fishermen of human beings. Our homeless yearn for shelter. Help us, Lord, to share warmth for those who are cold. Make us be buildings of living stone to shelter others. Help us to open our arms and homes to those who are fleeing war, injustices, violence, and human trafficking. Many hearts yearn simply to belong. We are all given talents to share with the world. Help us to be servants to one another and signs of Your loving Kingdom.
Your Light
O Lord, hear us as we cry out for Thy light. Shine in our hearts and cast away the darkness that surrounds us. Shine in our homes, our countries, and our world. Help us to see that our free will can be used for the good of man. It can be the love that we all yearn for, and our caring hearts can be the pathways to a better world. Give us the grace to love all people, every race; help us to see friends among our enemies. Break down the walls that divide us, Lord, and help us to help our neighbors with an abiding love. Forgive us of our loveless acts and thoughtless words. Fill us with Your love and fill our souls with Your Holy Spirit. Help us to realize the wrong we do crucifies Christ with every single wrong doing. Give us the courage to speak out whenever the strong oppress the weak. Whatever we touch, wherever we go, and whatever we say, may the world be blessed by Your Eternal light. A-men.
